Causality and experimentation, Business judgment

Insights 35

Validate segments on outcomes they were not built from before calling them personas
Use shadow mode to test plumbing and agreement, not to prove business impact
Pair any model-driven KPI target with guardrail metrics to resist Goodhart effects
Keep a small permanent randomised control share to measure what the model earns
Size an A/B test from the smallest effect you would act on, not the effect you hope to see
Do not stop a fixed-horizon A/B test the first time the dashboard turns significant
Run experiments in whole weekly cycles so the weekday mix matches across the decision
Name one primary metric and correct for multiplicity across the rest of the scorecard
