Concept map: Probability calibration
Prerequisites (two levels) and direct dependents of Probability calibration. Show everything

Insights 26
- Judge probability quality with log loss or Brier score, and calibration separately
- Check a reliability diagram before multiplying predicted probabilities by money
- Use sigmoid calibration on small calibration sets and isotonic only with plenty of data
- Recalibrate after resampling or class weighting, because both inflate predicted risk
- Treat SMOTE as an experiment with known caveats, not a default fix for imbalance
- Derive the decision threshold from the cost matrix instead of using 0.5
- Adjust predicted probabilities when the class prior shifts but the class-conditional patterns do not
- Let the stake of each case set its own action threshold when costs scale with value
Projects 11
- Readmissions by admitting specialty: case-mix-adjusted comparison without chasing noise
- Passenger no-show probabilities for overbooking and reconfirmation decisions
- Card-fraud alerts under a fixed review budget: ranking on day 1, tested on day 2
- Probability of default for a card portfolio: calibrated, monotone, explainable and audited
- Churn risk is not persuadability: targeting a retention budget and designing the test that measures it
- Yield-failure screening from 590 sensor signals: feature selection without fooling yourself
