Introduced on day 55
Design gate
A pass or fail threshold on one constraint of a design (quality, latency, cost, security, reliability), agreed with its owner before candidate results are seen.
In detail
Gates make a design decision about evidence. Each carries the type of evidence that will be accepted (measured, simulated or hypothetical) and, for quality, the critical slices. If a gate must change, record who changed it and why; moving it to fit a favourite design removes the protection it was set to give.
