The brief

A colleague forwards a preprint and asks whether your team should adopt its framework. The paper, its authors and its results are fictional, written for this exercise. Its abstract (paraphrased):

"ToolPilot is a planner-executor agent framework. On OpsBench-50, a benchmark of 50 multi-step operations tasks, ToolPilot completes 78% of tasks against 60% for a ReAct-style baseline, an 18-point improvement that shows planning is the key ingredient for reliable tool use."

Your own use case (simulated): an agent that handles customer refund and rebooking requests through a payments API and a booking API. Mistakes move money and change reservations.
