Introduced on day 43

Missing capability

The specific thing a system fails to do, found by tagging its failures on an evaluation set (knowledge, format, behaviour, or cost and latency), which decides the adaptation lever.

In detail

Naming the gap before choosing a method keeps adaptation from becoming a preference debate. Knowledge gaps (private or changing facts) call for context or retrieval; format gaps for schemas, examples and validators; consistent-behaviour gaps that a good prompt cannot hold for fine-tuning; cost or latency gaps for smaller or cached models. Counts of tagged failures, with an interval, are the evidence.
