Introduced on day 48
Grounded answer
An answer whose claims are supported by the evidence supplied to the model, as opposed to one that merely sounds plausible or happens to be correct from memory.
In detail
Grounding is a property of the answer relative to its context, not of the retriever. A system can retrieve the right passage and still produce an ungrounded answer, and can produce a correct answer without any supporting evidence in context. Check it with evidence labels, citation validation and sampled review of support.
