Data contract

An explicit agreement between a data producer and its consumers on schema, grain, meaning, timestamps, freshness, update rules and ownership.

In detail

For modeling, the critical clauses are when each value is recorded, whether rows are later corrected or backfilled, and how changes are announced. Without them point-in-time correctness cannot be verified.
